ClassesComposition I Composition II Home
Are you a high school student attempting a college course? Please read this note. Dr. McQueeney's teaching profile:
I bring a mix of interests and experience into my classrooms--whether on-campus or online. Students tell me that I'm a fairly demanding instructor but that my teaching and instructions are clear as long as students listen and follow directions. They also consider me to be pretty "fair," although I prefer to think of myself as "just." My overall goal is that students leave the class mindful of their writing. That means that they have sense of how writing works, their own writing tendencies, and a sufficient writing "toolbox" to make good choices when they need to write for occasions outside the composition classroom. As much as possible, my classes adhere to the Council of Writing Program Administrators Outcomes Statement for First-Year Composition. Pre-requisites for classes: Word processing: Besides the pre-reqs the college requires for this course, you need to have basic word-processing skills. Need some review? Try this link as a starting point. All online work is word processed, and all major papers for on-campus classes must be word processed as well. I can read Microsoft Word and Microsoft Works. Course Management software: I use course management software (Blackboard and, soon, Angel) for classes in both environments. Consequently, you need access to a computer.
