Professional Theatre
- Missouri Repertory
- Housed at UMKC, the Rep produces classic works, works by big-name
contemporary writers, and completely new material.
- The Unicorn Theatre
- Their mission statement: "The Unicorn
Theatre exists to enhance the cultural life of Kansas City by producing
professional contemporary, thought-provoking theater, which inspires emotional
response and stimulates discussion."
- Kansas City Shakespeare Festival
- An outdoor production--free!--every summer in Southmoreland Park, across
from the Nelson Gallery. In 2005, they produced Much Ado about Nothing.
- Starlight Theatre
- The outdoor theatre in Swope Park. Their summer season consists of
musicals.
- KC Actors' Theatre
- We are an artist-led,
artist-driven ensemble of Kansas City Theatre Professionals that builds,
sustains and nurtures Kansas City Theater Audiences by producing classic and
modern-classic plays in true rotating repertory. We emphasize artistic
craft, imagination and span and depth of expression.
- Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre
- An organization based in Kansas City's Crossroads Arts District.
Children's Theatre
- The Coterie Theatre
- A widely respected venue, named by Time as one of the five best
children's theatres in the nation.
- Theatre for Young America
- Less known than the Coterie, TYA is probably more education-oriented than
their elder sister.
Academic Theatre
- JCCC Theatre
- Several shows are produced each semester in our top-drawer facilities.

They produce many shows, mixing new material with standards.
