I live in northeast Johnson County with my wife,
Christy, and our two sons, Andrew and Alex.
When I am not teaching or researching, I enjoy reading books, watching movies and bicycling. Here's a link to my favorite movie. I'm also an assistant coach for my sons' baseball and soccer teams. |

I completed my Ph.D.
in English from KU in May 1999. My dissertation focuses upon
Daniel Defoe, Samuel Richardson, and James Boswell. My principal area of
study for my doctorate was eighteenth-century British literature. I enjoy
much from this period, but one of my favorite works is Thomas Gray's
Elegy
Written in a Country Churchyard.
I received a bachelor of journalism and a bachelor of arts in English from MU in 1989. I received my master's degree in English from MU in 1991
