Instructor's Digital ToolkitWhat tools are available for instructors to develop instructional materials or for use in instruction? How do you locate one of the plethora of Web 2.0 apps that meet your instructional or development needs? To answer that question, I developed a mind map for my presentation ("The Instructor's Digital Toolkit: A Show & Tell Session") offered at the Kansas City Professional Development Council Conference at Ottawa University on Saturday, March 1, 2008. When using the mind map, hover your mouse pointer over each note icon to see related text, click to globe icon to jump to the website for the application, click the "+" sign to expand and display subtopics or (if showing) click the "-" sign to contract and hide subtopics. Your comments and additions are invited (jbacon@jccc.edu). Blogging and SuchI write several blogs including Techno Tipster (technology related tips), Blackboard Campus Edition (CE) Annotations (tips, bug reports and notes on Blackboard, a learning management system; LMS), and a blog for my church congregation. I also am an avid user of del.icio.us and created a favorites of links related to the Instructor's Digital Toolkit. Work StuffAs Academic Director of the Educational Technology Center, I coordinate the Center's web site (with a lot of help from my staff). As we have been involved in reviewing the college's LMS, we've also composed a wiki on the various LMS options. It's not as comprehensive as we'd originally hoped, but you might find some useful information. Hobbies, Readings and Other StuffMy web space is really a collection of "stuff" based on my varied interests --as Academic Director, Educational Technology Center at Johnson County Community College, as facilitator of the All Good Books Club, as former Adult Sunday School teacher, as a family historian (BACON, BARKER, JOSLYN, LITTLEWORTH, GUIBORD, CHOPP, and so on), and as husband, father, and avid technology user.
